Sinai Akiba offers three distinct music programs, taught by a team of talented music teachers. In general studies music, students take part in basic music classes, learning music fundamentals such as rhythm, harmony, music reading and composition. Students become familiar with the great composers, orchestra instruments and various types of musical genres. Active student involvement is a critical part of our music instruction. Students have the opportunity to play Orff instruments, learn to play the recorder and learn basic piano skills in our piano lab. They can also participate in the school choir and the recorder club. In Judaic studies music students learn a variety of Jewish music and songs. They sing traditional holiday melodies, Israeli music and they learn to participate musically in t’fila, prayer. Students can also participate in our 80 member school orchestra that meets after school and performs at school assemblies, as well as in a variety of community programs and events.
