Director of Student Services and Literacy
MaryLynne Gyster is the Director of Student Services and Literacy at Alice and Nahum Lainer School. In this role she coordinates services for students including learning support, enrichment, and counseling.
Additionally, she coaches teachers in literacy best practices. Her favorite part of each day is working directly with students, as she provides instruction to growing readers, writers, and mathematicians.
MaryLynne’s professional background includes experience as a 2nd Grade teacher, 4th Grade teacher, special educator, and literacy specialist. She received a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education from Boston University and an M.A. as a Literacy Specialist from Teachers College - Columbia University.
MaryLynne has presented on topics including reading and writing workshop, word study, and the use of digital tools in the classroom. She published her first children’s book in January 2018.
