Director of Innovation and Curriculum Integration
Doug Hinko currently serves as the Director of Innovation and Curriculum Integration at Lainer School. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Doug was the Technology Coordinator at the Rhoades School in Encinitas, Calif., where he was responsible for technology integration and IT, as well as math and computer programming instruction. Doug was also a 6th Grade teacher at Rancho Santa Fe School District.
Doug’s career began as an elementary teacher both for Chicago Public Schools and Blue Island, Illinois. This is where he learned the importance of finding ways to engage, motivate, and connect with each individual child to ensure a successful and meaningful experience for each child.
In his current role, you can find Doug at any given time working with teachers with planning curriculum, teaching a design thinking or Project Based Learning centered class in the Innovation Lab, facilitating a Middle School robotics program, or introducing new apps and programs to students to foster higher understanding of content as well as 21st century pedagogies.
He holds a B.S. from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., and an M.A. in Curriculum Design and Instructional Strategies from Concordia University.
